The Passing of Dr. Darrin Patrick

Today I ask you to mourn: first with the Patrick family, and secondarily with Breanna and me, as we grieve a great loss.

Dr. Darrin Patrick, one of our Overseers, has gone to his eternal rest with the Lord. With his passing a bright light for the Kingdom has transitioned to the glorious presence of our Eternal King.

We ask too that, though you might not know them personally, you consider the Patrick family in your prayers and bear with them the immense grief they are currently experiencing. Dr. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Amie, and their four children—Glory, Grace, Drew, and Delainey.

Darrin was more than an Overseer for our church. Breanna and I also lost a dear brother, friend, and ​our​ pastor. Though he was a gift to many, he was a confidant and covering for us.

I cannot count all the ways he has blessed our lives over the decade that we knew him. He walked with, supported, and prayed with us through great trials.

He stayed in our home, ate at our table, and played with our children. He said hard things to me, always with a tender heart.

He loved Breanna and me. He loved our children. He loved Renovation Church—whole heart. He was glad to spend his life for each of us.

I am immensely grateful for the time we had with him but utterly heartbroken that our time—on this side of eternity—is now at an end.

Our hearts are heavy with grief. Our eyes are sore from weeping. Our brother is gone from us now, but we will meet again one day. Thank God that we have this hope.

Thank God that there will be a day when "everything sad will come untrue."
