This week is all about Small Groups, Small Groups, Small Groups. To quote our small groups director Sylvester Johnson, “Come and get your blessin!”
Serve In Giving (APEST)
God’s story of redemption is told through the generosity of his people. We are reminded of that truth every time we see the impact that your ministry has on a child of God. This week we were given a story about the effect of someone taking the step of faith to lead a small group. That leader was equipped for their ministry because of your generosity.
Small Groups Summer Semester (Shepherding, Evangelistic, Teaching)
This Summer our Small Groups semester will take place between May 9 - July 24. There are a plethora of options for you to find community in your church. Below you can find the entire list with links to sign up.
Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible? How reliable is the New Testament? Is Jesus who he said he was? Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event? If these are questions you have asked or someone has asked you, then this small group is for you.
Writing is an act of faith because it requires us to share our stories honestly and courageously, often in the middle of a journey. Still, we can be confident that our journey is guided by a gracious God, who gives us hope in our struggles. Like writers in the Bible, when we write about our complex stories, we grow in faith by seeing Him more clearly, and in turn, we can remind others of His love and faithfulness.
Watch the Gospel come alive while we study Jesus's life and ministry by reading scripture and watching the show "The Chosen". "The Chosen" is the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. Created outside of the Hollywood system, "The Chosen" allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew Him.
"Exile." Not a word that many of us think of when we consider what it means to be a Christian. Yet this word has rich biblical meaning for those who follow Jesus. Throughout this past year of the pandemic, we've all faced challenges related to isolation and uncertainty.
The purpose of this group is two-fold to build relationships with people of God around an activity and to form relationships with those who are not-yet the people of God. We will gather weekly to pray, climb, and meet people.
Morgan Snyder’s Becoming a King unabashedly speaks directly to men, teaching them the life-changing truth about the power that God intends for them to responsibly step into for his kingdom, while also giving women an honest peek behind the curtain into the lives and hearts of the men they know and love.
Urban Apologetics is the first book focused entirely on cults, religious groups, and ethnocentric ideologies prevalent in the black community. It brings the church up to speed on the legitimate issues that blacks have with Western Christianity as well as the questions alternative religious groups pose about historic Christianity, and it applies the gospel to black identity to show that Jesus is the only one who can restore our identity.
In the first century church Jesus changed the world by investing his life deeply in a few men (the twelve disciples). Jesus’ model of discipleship involved intentional investment of truth and life in the context of real relationships. We know that many men in the church are in desperate need of someone to help them grow in spiritual maturity and this class is going to be the beginning of us gaining the practical tools to do so.
Women’s Small Groups
Relationships—of all kinds—can be challenging. Do you often feel responsible for others in a way that leaves you feeling overwhelmed, resentful, exhausted, or anxious? The concept of building healthy boundaries in your relationships at home, at work, and within the church body is some thing that is near and dear to God’s heart. Through this small group, we will to dive into Part 1 of the book “Boundaries” and learn what the Holy Spirit would say to us about the practical and spiritual steps to living out a healthy life.
Engage with other women through movement and worship. If you have two left feet or can bring down the house this is a safe space for you to sweat, emotionally, and cognitively connect to the word. Join us for a dance class every week as we go through fundamental dance techniques and express our love for the lord collectively.
If you are interested in knowing the Bible so that your life can be transformed by the Word of God... come join us! We believe that the Bible is true and timeless therefore, it always has a timely word for us.
You know of Him-but do you know Him? For three years the disciples had been with Jesus, walking with Him and hearing everything He had to say. Yet Jesus told his closest friends that He needed to leave them so that the Holy Spirit could come - and that they would be better off because of it. If this was true of the disciples, who spent every day with Jesus, how much more do we need the Holy Spirit actively involved in our lives today?
Our society wants to fast-forward through suffering—whether it’s physical pain, emotional trauma, grief, loss, disease, or disappointment that our lives didn’t pan out quite the way we expected. We start to question God and search for the purpose in our pain, praying for answers, lessons, and healing.
We all know it’s important to study God’s Word. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What’s more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible?
