This Week At Renovation | August 3, 2021

This week we continue to get ready for our 21 days of prayer and fasting, and small group leader registrations are open for our fall semester. But first, let’s take a look at our weekly opportunities to grow in your discipleship.

Serve In Giving (APEST)

God’s story of redemption is told through the generosity of his people. We are reminded of that truth every time we see the impact that your ministry has on a child of God.

SERVE IN GIVING

Are you looking for a breakthrough in your life? Do you need the Spirit to help you get through your day? What about an extra dose of Jesus-level patience b ecause you have six zoom meetings in a day? Then consider starting your workday off by praying with the people of God. Fall Semester September 5 - December 4

Turn what you love into ministry

Leading a Small Group isn’t about being perfect; it’s about serving others by giving them a place to connect. Hosting a group is simple—choose a topic that interests you and select a time and location to meet with others to share it. We give you essential tools to make your Small Group successful through Leader Training and a directory where you can register your group so others can find it easily. We believe people’s lives are changed one semester at a time by moving one step toward Christ, and as a Small Group leader you get to play an important role in that process.

21 days of prayer and fasting

Pray Thumbnails Wide (1).jpg

Our 21 days of corporate prayer and fasting begin this Sunday, August 8th. During that time our corporate morning prayer will take place in our building at 1775 Water Place, Monday - Friday at 6:30a and Saturday at 9:30a. We hope that you will be able to join us over these next 3 weeks as we seek the Spirit of God together.

As you are preparing for this we wanted to share with you an excerpt from our personal prayer guide that can help you develop a lifestyle of prayer. For the full resource and more visit our prayer website, renovationchurch.com/pray

CREATING A LIFESTYLE OF PRAYER

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.

MARK 1:35

Prayer is most effective when it isn’t something we do every now and then, but when it’s a lifestyle we cultivate. To understand how to have a lifestyle of prayer, we can look at the example Jesus gave during His life on earth.

HAVE A CERTAIN TIME

Jesus got up early in the morning to spend time with His Heaven- ly Father. Make a daily appointment with God — whether it’s first thing in the morning, at lunch, or in the evening — and faithfully keep it.

HAVE A CERTAIN PLACE

Jesus had a specific place He went to pray. Having a designated place to pray helps us remove distractions and frees us to worship and pray out loud.

HAVE A CERTAIN PLAN

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He gave them a prayer outline. We call it “The Lord’s Prayer.” This outline, along with several other tools, is available in this guide. As we pray every day, our plans for our prayer time can vary, maybe including worship music, Bible reading, and quiet time to listen to God. It doesn’t always have to look the same; it just helps when we have a plan for connecting regularly with God.
