This Week At Renovation,

We are in the first week of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. It’s ok. You are supposed to feel this way. We also made a subtle change to our online experience this past week. For those that joined us for Renovation Online, you already know. We have started creating two different experiences. In addition to creating a weekly online experience that airs on Sunday for those who are not yet part of the family of Jesus, we are also releasing on Monday morning the worship experience “From The Room.” It will be available here and on our website every week.

Also, Team Night and Grand Opening are quickly approaching. Watch the videos, and do what they say.

I struggle to trust God's intentions toward me. There. I said it; now we can all be honest, even if we do not display it aloud. My lack of trust comes out in all kinds of ways, but the place I find it showing up most often is, you guessed it, how I manage the resources God has entrusted to me.

Saying that aloud feels strange because Breanna and I have typically been generous, even when we made $500/mo… combined.

But when I wrote my first book and received the signing bonus, I suddenly felt tightness in my chest and a lump in my gut about tithing off of it. It was a feeling I had never experienced before, and when I dug into it, I realised that what was underneath it was a sudden sense that I might never see this type of money again, and I had to hold tight to decide what was best for my family and me.

In other words, would we lack something if I gave a tithe off that amount of money?

Would God still take care of us?

I absolutely love reading the Jesus Storybook Bible. Yes, even if you are a grown up without kids, you need to check this out! It puts the stories of the Bible in such simple, plain and beautiful language that it really brings the word of God to life!

In the very first chapter, there is a paragraph that I often reflect on. It says this:

“People think the Bible is a book of heroes, showing you people you should copy. The Bible does have some heroes in it, but most of the people in the Bible aren’t heroes at all. They make some big mistakes (sometimes on purpose)......”The Bible isn’t mainly about you and what you should be doing. It’s about God and what he has done.”
