This Week At Renovation | June 15, 2022

Beautiful People,

I hope you have been enjoying your small groups this summer. It has been wonderful to see community happening all around us. This week we have a special announcement about our first-ever all-church serve. I don’t want to give too much away. So watch the video below.

SERVE DAY | JULY 16, 2022

“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. - John 13:13-15

Serve Day is a church-wide event where we have the opportunity to show our community the love of Jesus through what Jesus embodied; Service to Others. Renovation Church has a wonderful community in the Northwest that we want to love on and love well. July 16th, 2022 we will open our campus and go into neighborhoods serving those we encounter. You should expect the following:

  • Free t-shirts

  • Food

  • Play

  • Fun

  • Music

  • Trash Pickup

  • Community Engagement

  • Encouraging Word

Pastor Léonce most recent blog post

In our final two installments of this blog series on happiness, we come to what is likely the most counterintuitive truth in the world, especially for self-focused westerners like you and me—we are most happy when we serve others. We are most happy when we are serving others. There is a mountain of scientific research that affirms this truth, on which we will certainly touch, but I want to first share with you my awakening to this understanding.

Among the many not-so-great things I did whilst attending the University of Oklahoma, one positive stands out—the summer I spent volunteering at a local long-term care facility for the aged. I admit that when I first began volunteering there, it felt like more of an obligation than a happy or fulfilling experience. But the more time I spent there and opened my heart to the people I was serving, the more my heart and attitude changed. Even as a very selfish college student, I began to want to be there instead of feeling I had to be there.

Over time I built relationships with some of the most interesting people I have ever known, and their stories were layered with everything from the extraordinary to the incredibly painful. Looking back all these years, I vividly remember how different I felt after that summer. My priorities were more evident. My values were more defined. And in an interesting twist, I was actually happier having spent a good deal of the summer serving than I could have ever imagined I would be, especially with everyone around me spending most of their summer partying. My increased happiness was directly tied and proportional to my investment in the lives of other people. Making a difference in the lives of others made me happier than nearly anything else I could have imagined—and it still does today.

Of course, that is not a brag of any kind because I am not unique.

KAA Summer Kamp | July 18-22

Kids Across America will be using our Water Place property to host a week-long summer camp. Each day the KAA staff will have organized sports and adventure activities for children ages 9-13. The summer camp is daily from July 18-22. This is an amazing opportunity for children to hear the Good News of Jesus and have a great time OUTSIDE!

Join us on Sunday for our breakdown of that weeks sermon.

Give God Your First And Your Best (APEST)

God’s story of redemption is told through the generosity of his people. We are reminded of that truth every time we see the impact that your ministry has on a child of God.

When I started the Women’s Weekly over two years ago, my desire was to see the women of Renovation discipling the Women of Renovation on a weekly basis! What better way to facilitate women’s ministry is there than to see women who God has given so many gifts to, pour into one another every week? My hope was that we would have as many women as possible contributing to our Monday morning devotionals.
