Summer Small Groups

A story from a small group from last semester.

I really enjoyed the prayer small group. It's shown me that I shouldn't limit what I pray for because I serve an enormous God. It showed me the power of prayer because prayers were literally answered that were prayed during our class. It thought me the ways God speaks to us and how to recognize His voice. It also helped me draw closer to Him by helping me realize prayer is a conversation with a God who wants you to talk to him about everything, even things we think are too small to bring to him. I've had trouble for the longest time understanding how and what it looks like to come before the Lord of Heaven and Earth in prayer with the proper spirit. Whenever I prayed, I often felt either insufficiently contrite or inappropriately presumptuous. I knew that it was important and good to spend time in prayer, but it felt more like going through the motions to check off the right boxes, rather than spending time with my loving heavenly Father. That has changed after taking Mama Joy's class on prayer. It's not so much about learning the right things to say or whether you "deserve" to have the kind of direct access to God that we have been given through the Holy Spirit, but more about cultivating the right attitude towards and the proper understanding of what prayer really is meant to be. The most powerful thing we can do is pray and it's our burden and honor to pray unceasingly for all those for whom we wish more than is within our purview to provide. It's also our privilege to spend time with our Friend who sticks closer than any brother, and seek out the depths of His character. Mama Joy is such a delightful leader and a giant of the faith who has an immense knowledge of what prayer is and what it does, as well as extensive personal experience with the life-changing power that prayer holds. The class has been truly transformational for my daily prayer life and the way I see not only who God is, but also how He looks at me and treasures one-on-one time with us - His children.

Pastor Léonce most recent blog post

"Sir, give me this water—she exclaims—so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water."

Feel her words… I will never have to keep coming here to draw water. Her words, and the context, tell the pain of her story. There is a seemingly minor detail at the very start of John's account that is easily read past, and it shapes so much of what was happening in her life. It was about noon when Jesus arrived at the Well.

Noon in Palestine was the hottest point of the day. Think New Orleans, Cambodia, Arizona and Uganda somehow had a baby. Those babies grew up, got married, and had a baby, producing the hottest place on earth.

History tells us that no one went to draw water at that time of day, but she did. Why?

Jesus' response to her asking for the living water He offers gives us a clue.

KAA Summer Kamp | July 18-22

Kids Across America will be using our Water Place property to host a week-long summer camp. Each day the KAA staff will have organized sports and adventure activities for children ages 9-13. The summer camp is daily from July 18-22. This is an amazing opportunity for children to hear the Good News of Jesus and have a great time OUTSIDE!

SERVE DAY | JULY 16, 2022

“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. - John 13:13-15

Serve Day is a church-wide event where we have the opportunity to show our community the love of Jesus through what Jesus embodied; Service to Others. Renovation Church has a wonderful community in the Northwest that we want to love on and love well. July 16th, 2022 we will open our campus and go into neighborhoods serving those we encounter. You should expect the following:

  • Free t-shirts

  • Food

  • Play

  • Fun

  • Music

  • Trash Pickup

  • Encouraging Word

Join us on Sunday for our breakdown of that weeks sermon.

Give God Your First And Your Best (APEST)

God’s story of redemption is told through the generosity of his people. We are reminded of that truth every time we see the impact that your ministry has on a child of God.

As I have been reading through the Old Testament this year, I have repeatedly been amazed at how the people of God at that time, would worship idols or return back to their idol worship over and over again.

These little powerless, created statues of wood, rock or metal held such importance to those people. Even after God would rescue his people, or show up in a miraculous way, like a dog returning to its vomit, the children of God seemed to forget about the true living God and return to an inanimate object, offering sacrifices and worship to something that could do nothing in return for them.
